Jim met Nancy in 1950 and married a year later. Tom Barry is a third generation winemaker succeeding in his father and grandfather’s footsteps in graduating with an oenology degree from Rose worthy in 2010. Sam Barry joined the family winery in 2012 as commercial manager, whilst calm completing his commerce degree at Adelaide University. Sam is heavily involved in the marketing and sales and distribution of Jim Barry nationally and internationally. Olivia Barry began occupied at the winery in 2009 in a part-time cellar door role whilst completing her communications and media degree at the University of South Australia. Olivia is currently active in London to work for Negociants UK as an ambassador for Jim Barry. The region has been producing wine for more than 175 years and is host to more than 40 different wineries. Jim Barry Wines is a family winery based in the Clare Valley of South Australia. The company is now owned and managed by Peter Barry, a second generation family winemaker. Jim himself was the first suited winemaker in the Clare Valley, graduating with the 17th Degree in Oenology from the famous Rose worthy Agricultural College in 1947. Peter Barry became managing director in 1985. Behind graduating as the 17th suited winemaker from Rose worthy, he accepted a position as Clare vale’s winemaker and chemist, making him the first qualified winemaker to work in the Clare Valley. Jim and Nancy met when he was boarding in Clare while active at the Clare vale Cooperative. In 1959 Jim and Nancy purchased their first property and vineyards on the northern outskirts of Clare. In 1969, behind guiding Clare vale for 22 years, Jim took on the challenge of helping to establish Taylor’s fresh winery and vineyards at Auburn (originally obvious as Chateau Clare Estate). He undertook his beginning vintage at the family’s business in 1977 and returned to the winery in 1982 after completing his Oenology Degree at South Australia’s Rose worthy Agricultural College. Peter and his wife, Sue, made their family home on a 30hectare vineyard farm in the Armagh region of the Clare Valley. Jim Barry Wines is the beginning family owned winery in Australia to have three generations of RoseworthyWaite graduates. From his travels, Tom has taken home a riches of knowledge to strengthen the Jim Barry Wines brand and prosper his wine making skills. Tom will quietly continue the arrogant heritage and family philosophies of quality wine making that has been firmly established at Jim Barry Wines over the three generations. Sam completed his first vintage as a cellar hand at Jim Barry Wines in 2007 and followed this with three consecutive part-time vintages at the Wilson Vineyard at Polish Hill River, lower the guidance of winemaker Daniel Wilson. There is a critical need for their innovation and new thinking in decision making, MFA Chief Executive Paul Evans said. Olivia began working at the winery in 2009 behind completing tall school and continued in a part-time cellar door role throughout her university studies. Olivia completed her first vintage at Jim Barry Wines in 2013, prior taking a gap year in London where she worked as an ambassador for the company.

It was Jim Barry’s drive and community spirit that helped shape South Australia’s Clare Valley as a benchmark producer of world class Riesling and cemented its place as one of Australia’s premier wine regions. Jim himself was the beginning capable winemaker in the Clare Valley, graduating with the 17th Degree in Oenology from the famous Rose worthy Agricultural College in 1947. Peter Barry became managing director in 1985. The Barry family name is synonymous with the Clare wine region and their deep ties to the local community continue to this day. In 1959 Jim and Nancy purchased their beginning property and vineyards on the northern outskirts of Clare.
