When locals think of sausages, it's Kathie's Meat Shoppe that comes to mind. In 2016 we moved on from Sausages for a year, claiming the superior butcher's burger in Australia with our Lamb Bush Burger. Yet there's more to Kathie's than sausages! We've snagged SA's Superior Full Rasher Bacon title for three years running and also bear award winning leg ham, mettwurst, pepperoni and pastrami. All of our meat is fully processed on our premises. This includes cooking too, with our hams, mettwursts and other goods available straight out of the oven. When it comes to service, our capable butchers work in the shop front, so if it's not on display there's a appropriate chance your order can be prepared on the spot. Sourcing local produce is at the heart of our business. It not only reduces the impact on the environment, by cutting transport, but we trust in supporting our region and big-hearted tourists the chance to experience the flavors of the Clare Valley. After an approach from their local processor, the decision was made to turn the chickens into a totally free range operation, to confront burgeoning consumer demand. It’s been a long time since that first 500 chickens, and Greens lade Chickens aim to supply totally natural free range chickens at an affordable price well into the future. Kathie's was crowned National Sausage King champions three times from 2011 to 2013 and is one of only six businesses inducted into the Hall of Fame. They now employ five competent butchers, one apprentice and two Clare High School students as casual staff. In the shop, you'll find the meat you know and love, as well as something new to try.
